Job summary

The Citadel is seeking an Instructional Designer and Technologist I for CEITL to support Canvas, learning technology, and faculty success. You will provide responsive support, training, and collaboration on course design, with on-site duties and no remote work.

You will partner with faculty to develop online and technology-enhanced courses, apply Quality Matters standards, and advance accessibility and AI literacy initiatives campus-wide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, educational technology, information technology, or a related field.
• Three years of experience in educational technology, instructional design, online learning, or LMS and learning technology support.
• Hands-on experience with Canvas or a comparable learning management system.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, service orientation, and ability to explain technical solutions clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet academic calendar deadlines.
• Ability to work on campus in Charleston, South Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert on Canvas, assisting with configuration, troubleshooting, and system updates.
• Manage and support instructional technology tools integrated with Canvas, including Canvas Studio and related tools.
• Provide clear, timely, and patient support for Canvas and instructional technology questions.
• Design and deliver workshops and training sessions for faculty and staff on Canvas and related technologies.
• Develop online orientation for students, faculty, and staff and coordinate with Academic Orientation.
• Build and maintain Canvas-based resource courses, guides, and materials and promote them campus-wide.
• Train faculty in creating accessible course materials and using accessibility tools to meet WCAG 2.1 AA and ADA Title II.
