Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis seeks a Staff Vocalist to support the parish’s Traditional Choir, offering skilled vocal leadership for Masses and liturgical celebrations under the Director of Music.

You will learn and perform sacred repertoire, participate in weekend services and rehearsals, and collaborate with clergy and parish staff to maintain reverent, musically excellent worship. A background in sacred choral singing and strong sight-reading are valued.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated vocal and choral experience required.
• Ability to read music and learn assigned vocal parts.
• Strong vocal technique, pitch accuracy, rhythm, and ensemble skills.
• Experience with traditional sacred choral music preferred.
• Experience singing in Catholic church choirs or similar ensembles preferred.
• Cantor or soloist experience is beneficial.
• Formal musical training or a degree in music is preferred but may not be required.
• Practicing Catholic preferred with respect for Catholic liturgical practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Dependable, organized, flexible, and committed to musical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Sing assigned vocal parts accurately during Masses and liturgical celebrations.
• Participate in weekend Masses, rehearsals, Holy Days, and liturgies.
• Perform sacred music in line with Catholic liturgy and parish repertoire.
• Provide clear vocal support for choir and congregation.
• Serve as cantor or soloist when assigned.
• Maintain reverent presence during liturgical celebrations.
• Attend rehearsals and arrive prepared.
• Learn music and vocal parts independently as needed.
• Prepare music in advance of services.
• Collaborate with the Director of Music on vocal blending and expression.
• Respond to direction and musical leadership.
