Job summary

Saint John Paul the Great Parish is seeking a Cantor to lead and encourage sung prayer during liturgical celebrations at St. Francis Church and St. Peter Church.

The Cantor works under the Parish Music Director and collaborates to support the parish's music ministry, serving as a liturgical minister and preparing music for services. Responsibilities include serving as Cantor for various liturgies, leading congregational singing, proclaiming the Responsorial Psalm when assigned, and attending

Qualifications

• Strong singing voice with clear diction.
• Ability to lead congregational singing confidently and prayerfully.
• Ability to read music and learn new repertoire efficiently.
• Familiarity with Roman Catholic liturgy and liturgical music traditions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Cantor for assigned weekend, holy day, funeral, wedding, and other liturgies.
• Lead the assembly in hymns, acclamations, and musical responses.
• Proclaim the Responsorial Psalm when assigned.
• Prepare assigned music in advance of liturgies.
• Attend rehearsals as scheduled and learn new liturgical music.
