Job summary

Oerlikon Group in Troy, MI is seeking a canner/packager to set up and operate the packaging line. You will handle packaging material and finished goods while meeting safety and production targets, working 12-hour overnight shifts from 6pm to 6:30am on a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills required to perform measurements and calculations.
• Mechanical knowledge for setup and operation of packaging equipment.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and standing for long periods.
• Experience or training in operating cranes or powered industrial tooling is preferred.
• Willingness to work 12-hour overnight shifts (6pm–6:30am).

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for a Canner/Packager for our Troy, MI facility. In this role you will setup and operate all equipment for the canning/ packaging process. You will be responsible for packaging material and finished products while meeting or exceeding safety, quality, and production targets. You will be working 12-hour shifts overnight (6p-6.30a) on a two-week rotating schedule.

Your Responsibilities:

• Under direction of Finishing Team Lead and Supervisor, sets up packaging line, including installation of packaging equipment as well as placement of appropriately labeled and color-coded hoppers.
• Cleans packaging equipment between alloys to remove residual powder.
• Delivers packaged product to shipping.
• Meets or exceeds all safety, environmental, and health goals for department.
• Meets or exceeds quality goals for production orders.
• Meets or exceeds productivity targets.
• Contributes to continual improvement activities.
• Notifies lead or supervisor about any problems.
• Assisting in other departments (i.e. Screening, Remelt, Cladding, Blends, Tape and Paste)
• Performs other duties as required.

Your Profile:

• Basic math skills and organization ability.
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, i.e. lifting, bending, standing.
• Ability to safely operate cranes and powered industrial vehicles.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
• Ability to work 6pm-6:30am shift.
