Job summary

Digs Dog Care in Millstone Township, New Jersey is seeking a Canine Caretaker to care for overnight guests, walk dogs, feed per owner instructions, and keep detailed notes on each dog’s health and behavior. You will greet clients during check-in/out and support a busy care team.

We offer a structured schedule with early and late shifts, on-site work, and opportunities to grow into leadership roles. Training and advancement paths are available within Greenleaf/Digs conglomerate.

Qualifications

• 16 years or older.
• Basic math, reading, and writing for following instructions and keeping records.
• Clear communication with coworkers, managers, and clients.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and bend, kneel, and squat.
• Available for at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).

Responsibilities

• Walk dogs of all breeds and sizes.
• Prepare and serve meals following each owner’s instructions.
• Record feeding, bathroom, and health notes accurately.
• Follow individual pet schedules, including housebreaking puppies and medically needy dogs.
• Clean and sanitize pet suites and facility areas.
• Remove pet waste following company guidelines.
• Handle daily housekeeping tasks such as garbage, dishes, and laundry.
• Check dogs in and out, greeting clients in a friendly way.
• Complete check-in and check-out exams.

About the role

• As a Canine Caretaker, you take care of our overnight guests. You’ll walk and feed dogs, keep their suites clean and safe, and keep careful notes on how each dog is eating, going to the bathroom, and feeling. You’ll also greet clients briefly when their dogs check in and out. If you love dogs and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, you’ll fit right in with our care team.

Qualifications

• Experience with dogs is a plus but not required. We’ll train you.
• Basic math, reading, and writing skills for following instructions and keeping records
• Pays close attention to dogs, including signs like growling or whining
• Communicates clearly with coworkers, managers, and clients
• Organized and finishes tasks on time
• Available for at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday)
• Able to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and bend, kneel, and squat
• Comfortable in a noisy setting (lots of barking!)

Growth Path

Our care team learns dog handling, behavior, and daily care from the ground up. Strong performers can grow into roles such as Team Lead, Daycare Attendant, Supervisor, or full-time positions.

Fast Facts About this Location:

• Full-service resort offering daycare, boarding, grooming, swimming, training, and more under one roof
• Shifts: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
• One weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) required. If you have questions about scheduling, just ask.
