Position Details

• Site: Locations may vary on a routine basis.

• Union: Janitor/Eng/Bus/Ice (26).
• Functional Area: Janitorial.

Work Schedule

• AM Shift: as early as 5 AM - 1:30 PM or 5:30 AM - 2 PM.
• Mid-Day Shift: as early as 11 AM - 7:30 PM.
• PM Shift: as early as 12 - 8:30 PM or 1:30 - 10 PM.

Job Summary

Assist with cleaning and maintenance inside and outside of MPS buildings under general supervision.

Essential Functions

• Maintain building interiors and exteriors, including cleaning, lawn care, snow removal, and groundskeeping.
• Ensure safety rules are followed; operate tools and equipment safely.
• Assist with furniture and equipment setup.
• Follow safety precautions and report unsafe conditions.
• Respond to emergencies, security issues, and provide customer service.
• Attend training and safety drills.
• Perform opening/closing of facilities and security system management.
• Promote a positive workplace environment and maintain confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned, possibly outside normal hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 60 lbs.
• Knowledge of maintenance materials, safety regulations, and chemical handling.
• Skills in operating maintenance tools and following instructions.
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license may be required.

Work Environment

Indoor and outdoor work, exposure to hazards, safety precautions required, physical activity involved.
