Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a data abstraction specialist to capture patient history, diagnosis, staging, and treatment data for the AHN cancer registry in compliance with ACoS CoC, the PA Cancer Registry, and AHN requirements. You will ensure data accuracy and completeness.

Responsibilities include primary data abstraction for clinical measures, screening of reports to identify cancer cases, maintaining the registry database, and reporting to state registries as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate’s degree in health care or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 1 year knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, or medical terminology.
• Minimum 1 year experience interpreting medical and treatment information.

Responsibilities

• Perform primary data abstraction for clinical measures and registries with high accuracy.
• Screen disease indices and reports to identify reportable cancer cases.
• Maintain cancer registry database and assist reporting to state registries.
• Participate in annual educational opportunities to stay updated.
• Other duties as assigned.
