Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's University Hospital seeks a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Cancer Control Department to oversee daily clinical research activities within the Clinical Trials Office.

Responsibilities include screening patient records, recruiting and enrolling participants, obtaining informed consent, coordinating visits, monitoring adverse events, and ensuring IRB and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, health sciences, social sciences, or other medical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of experience in a clinical research capacity is required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology desired.
• Clinical research certification from an accredited certifying agency desired.
• Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications desired.
• Effective communication with clinical staff, research participants, and collaborators.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assessing patient records to identify patients eligible for specified clinical research protocols.
• Recruit, interview and enroll patients.
• Obtain informed consent and ensure consent process complies with regulations.
• Educate patients and families about purpose, goals, and processes of the study.
• Coordinate scheduling and follow-through of patient care appointments and testing per protocol.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and notify appropriate professionals as needed.
• Document unfavorable responses and notify sponsors and regulatory agencies.
• Assist with collecting, extracting, coding, and analyzing clinical research data.
• Support compliance with IRB, FDA, and sponsor regulations.
• Coordinate and prepare for external QA and IRB reviews.
