Join us for a unique and rewarding opportunity to work on one of the last mule-drawn canal boats in the country. The Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (DLNHC) is seeking flexible, people-oriented individuals who enjoy outdoor activities to serve as seasonal Canal Boat Crew Members at the National Canal Museum.
As a Crew Member, you will be responsible for the safe operation of the canal boat, care and handling of the mules (Hank & George), and providing engaging historical interpretation of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, the Lehigh Canal, and Hugh Moore Park. The role involves conducting three 45-minute public rides daily, participating in special event cruises, and assisting with educational programs for school groups in April-May and September-October.
Ideal candidates should be safety-conscious, dependable, and possess strong customer service and decision-making skills. You must be comfortable with physical job requirements and trained to handle emergencies, including first aid, water rescues, and fire situations. The position is subject to child abuse/criminal history clearances and random drug/alcohol testing per Coast Guard regulations.
