Job summary

Georgia Northwestern Technical College is seeking a Welding and Joining Lab Assistant to be located on the Whitfield Murray County Campus and will be required to travel to other campuses to meet operational requirements. This position will report to Dean of Industrial Technologies.

This position requires an on-campus work environment presence and does not offer a telework option. The position supports instruction by securing equipment, inventorying supplies, and assisting students and

Qualifications

• Former or currently enrolled Welding and Joining student at GNTC or paid welding experience within the past seven years.
• Knowledge of welding and joining shop equipment and supplies.
• Ability to work well with other students.
• Cannot be concurrently enrolled in the course for instruction and work as lab assistant.
• Successful completion of the course(s) or program appropriate to the assignment as an assistant.

Responsibilities

• Ensure lab equipment is secure and operable for students’ instruction prior to class
• Inventory lab supplies and inform instructors when additional supplies are needed
• Distribute lab supplies to students as needed during instruction
• Assist with maintaining an orderly and clean environment in the welding lab to ensure safety
• Assist students as requested by instructor
• Other duties as assigned
