Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking a Tree Trimmer to maintain campus trees and landscape health. Under supervision, you will cut, prune and trim trees, operate related equipment, climb with safety gear, and perform tree surgery to protect the campus’ exterior environment.

The position is a full-time career appointment, 100% effort, on-site at the campus. Typical schedule is 8 hours per day from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with the eligible benefits and opportunities in Facilities Management.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated tree maintenance experience including pruning, trimming, disease control, and tree surgery.
• Experience with boom/bucket trucks and climbing equipment for safe access to branches.
• Ability to work independently or in teams and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Cut, prune and trim trees to remove excess or diseased wood.
• Operate tree care vehicles and equipment; climb trees using safety gear.
• Maintain equipment and campus flagpoles.
