Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Transportation Assistant Manager for a Wisconsin campus. You will assist the Campus Transportation Manager, coordinate bus routes, schedule daily operations, and ensure compliance with regulations while developing staff and improving fleet efficiency.

You will learn software for mapping and routing, supervise dispatch, and support drivers to meet safety and service goals. This role includes a performance bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Education: GED or High School Diploma.
• Experience operating large passenger vehicles and managing student behavior.
• CDL with class P (passenger) and S (school bus) endorsements.
• Completed bus driver safety training.
• Must be over 18 and pass alcohol and drug tests.
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe transportation of all students as the top priority.
• Screen and test candidates for driving skills and safety.
• Train drivers in Pre/Post Trip inspections.
• Maintain driver credentials and ensure trainings.
• Oversee dispatch operations and respond to bus problems.
• Respond to accidents and conduct internal investigations.
• Respond to after-hours emergency calls.
• Maintain cost per mile under $3.70.
• Develop driver schedules and monitor participation.
• Oversee fleet maintenance to avoid costly repairs.
• Substitute as Bus Driver when needed.
• Maintain fleet in safe condition with cost savings.
• Utilize Transfinder to create/update routes; Synovia for reports.
• Provide excellent customer service to staff and parents.
