Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Transportation Assistant Manager to support the Campus Transportation Manager in coordinating bus routes, scheduling, and daily operations. You will learn and adapt to ensure compliance with regulations while training staff on routing software and safety procedures.

The role emphasizes safeguarding students, maintaining credentials, and driving efficiency across dispatch and bus operations on a Texas campus.

Qualifications

• Education: GED or High School Diploma.
• Experience operating large passenger vehicles; ability to manage student behavior.
• Valid CDL with class P (passenger) and S (school bus) endorsements.
• Completed bus driver safety training course.
• Must be over 18 years old.
• Pass alcohol and drug tests.
• DOT Physical Examination.
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe transportation of all students as the top priority.
• Screen and train drivers; monitor compliance with routes and schedules.
• Oversee dispatch operations and respond to bus problems, lateness, and accidents.
• Maintain driver credentials and complete required trainings on time.
• Create driver schedules balancing workload and clock time.
• Audit processes to prevent abuse and ensure safety.
• Maintain fleet in safe operating condition and monitor maintenance costs.
• Utilize routing software to create and update campus routes.
