SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, supervises andmonitorsthe behavior of students who are outside of class and at-school sponsored activities both on and off campus. Responsible for the enforcement of applicable District and school rules. Assistsin the maintenance of an orderly and safe campus. Reports directly to the High Schools administration. Incumbent performs related work asrequired.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Supervision and Campus Safety
  • Patrols and monitors the school campus during school hours, providing general supervision of students outside the classroom.
  • Remains alert to situations that may disrupt the educational environment or pose a risk to persons or property.
  • Intervenes in situations likely to result in disruption, misconduct, or injury and directs students to refrain from inappropriate behavior.
  • Checks on students who are out of class during instructional time and verifies appropriate authorization for their absence from class.
  • Directs tardy students to the appropriate school office.
  • Intercepts unauthorized visitors and non-students on campus during school hours and directs them to the school office or off campus as appropriate.
  • Immediately notifies school administration when a non-student fails to comply with directives, returns after being instructed to leave, or creates a disruption or safety concern.
Student Behavior and Discipline Support
  • Assists certificated staff in maintaining a positive school environment through preventative discipline practices and reinforcement of school rules and expectations.
  • Explains school rules, policies, and behavioral expectations to students and parents/guardians.
  • Develops positive relationships with students and families to promote trust, communication, and cooperation.
  • Informs and guides students regarding appropriate school conduct and acceptable behavior.
  • Escorts students to school administration in cases involving serious, repeated, or ongoing disciplinary concerns.
  • Serves as a witness in student conferences, disciplinary proceedings, legal hearings, and related meetings as required.
Collaboration and Community Relations
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with students, families, staff, administrators, and community agencies.
  • Assists law enforcement personnel and school administration in matters involving students when appropriate.
  • Communicates student concerns and behavioral issues to administrators and relevant staff.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Prepares, completes, and maintains accurate written reports, records, and documentation related to incidents, investigations, student misconduct, and disciplinary actions.
  • Documents observations and incidents in accordance with District policies and procedures.
Extracurricular and Event Supervision
  • Supervises students during extracurricular activities, events, and other assigned school functions to promote safety, security, and appropriate behavior.
Professional Expectations
  • Wears District-designated attire in a professional and presentable manner during assigned work hours, when required.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and skills would be:

  • Education: High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate or Associate of Arts Degree or higher.
  • Experience: Two (2) yearsofexperience as a supervisor of middle school or high school age students.
  • Licenses/Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR Certification and First Aid Training upon employment.
