Job summary

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks an Assistant Steam Distribution Operator to support the operation, monitoring, and inspection of campus steam, condensate return systems, chilled water centers, natural gas distribution, and building HVAC operations. You will work under supervision to ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely across Abbott Power Plant facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year (12 months) of mechanical work experience.
• Possession of a valid State of Illinois driver's license at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation and/or investigation/inspection of valves, traps, pumps, and related equipment on campus steam and condensate systems.
• Assist in operation and/or inspection of natural gas transmission and distribution systems and related equipment.
• Assist in adjusting PRV stations and operating HVAC systems per schedules and conditions; maintain logs and report issues to supervision.
