Job summary

University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking a Steam Plant Operator to manage the university's central steam generation and related boiler operations. You will monitor, control, and adjust boiler plant equipment to ensure a safe, reliable steam supply for campus needs and domestic hot water.

Responsibilities include operating the HMI-based boiler control system, performing preventive maintenance, recording readings, and maintaining safety and compliance as part of a 12-month schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Requires certification.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• NIULPE 2nd Class License or equal class or grade operator; experience with electrical controls is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate one 40,000-lb/hr and three 50,000-lb/hr boilers and related boiler plant machinery.
• Operate the Computerized Boiler Control System (HMI).
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure reliable steam supply.
• Record log readings and inspect operating equipment on a regular basis.
• Coordinate with supervisor on system changes and safety procedures.
