Job summary

Monmouth University seeks a Staff Accountant to join the Accounting Department of the Controller's Office on the Main Campus in West Long Branch, NJ. The role involves posting financial transactions to the general ledger, performing reconciliations, and preparing internal financial reports for the University and the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Three (3) years of related accounting experience.
• Familiarity and adherence to standard accounting principles/US GAAP.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word 2024.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily system routines to post financial transactions to the general ledger.
• Perform monthly reconciliations for various accounts and complete internal financial reports.
• Process electronic journal entry imports and ensure proper formatting and posting.
• Review journal and budget entries for compliance and obtain approvals.
• Execute payroll and end-of-month GL import interfaces and resolve posting exceptions.
• Provide assistance with processing refunds and related entries as needed.
• Reconcile cash receipt systems and perform monthly closings and reporting.
• Prepare internal financial reports and analyses for the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music Corporation.
