Job summary

Colby College is seeking a Social Media Content Creator to bring the College’s brand to life through dynamic social media content. You will conceptualize, shoot, edit, and publish engaging short-form video and image content across campus channels, collaborating with Multimedia and Editorial teams.

You’ll manage Colby’s social channels, partner with departments to highlight campus life, and optimize storytelling based on analytics and audience feedback.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional digital/social content creation experience for a brand, agency, publication, or creator account (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• A portfolio or reel demonstrating successful short-form video content and digital storytelling.
• Proficiency in mobile/DSLR shooting and video editing software (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
• Deep understanding of current social platforms, basic graphic design, and copywriting.
• Ability to interpret social metrics, perform social listening, and apply data insights to content strategy.

Responsibilities

• Content Creation & Storytelling: Conceptualize, script, shoot, and edit engaging short-form video and image assets daily.
• Campus Storytelling: Feature Colby students, faculty, staff, and alumni to highlight campus life and initiatives.
• Copywriting: Write platform-native captions, headlines, and calls to action.
• Standards & Compliance: Ensure assets meet brand, accessibility, editorial, privacy, and release standards.
• Special Projects: Oversee Communications email newsletter and student content workers.
