Job summary

Syracuse University is seeking a part-time Van Driver to shuttle students and staff around campus and the City of Syracuse. Shifts vary and may include day, evening, overnight, and weekends.

A Class D license with a clean driving record is required, along with a DOT Medical Certificate and successful background checks. You will operate, inspect, and refuel the van, and communicate via radio to ensure on-time service.

Qualifications

• Active Class D license with a safe driving record.
• 1+ years passenger driving experience preferred.
• Must pass DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
• Employment contingent on background check and driving record.
• Pre-employment and random drug screening required.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a shuttle van to transport passengers on campus and in the City of Syracuse.
• Follow university policies and procedures while operating vehicle.
• Conduct vehicle inspections per policy and DOT regulations.
• Operate vehicle communications systems per university guidelines.
• Clean and fuel the van as part of daily duties.
• Maintain scheduled routes and notify of delays or changes.
• Report incidents or mechanical concerns per department procedures.
• Report all accidents to supervisor immediately.
• Provide information to students, faculty, and staff about shuttle services.
• Attend required university, federal, and state training.
