Job summary

The University of Maryland’s Department of Transportation Services (DOTS) seeks a Shuttle-UM Bus Driver to transport students, staff, and guests safely. Under supervision, you will operate 30’, 35’, and 40’ buses and cutaway vans, conduct pre-trip inspections, refuel, and ensure vehicle readiness.

This on-site role requires a Maryland CDL-B with passenger endorsement, clean driving record, and ability to work weekends, early mornings, and nights.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Maryland Commercial Class B driver's license with a passenger endorsement and no air brake restrictions.
• One year of driving experience.
• Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to respond appropriately to incidents.
• Drug and alcohol testing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple transit vehicles on assigned routes.
• Prioritize passenger safety and provide courteous assistance.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report defects.
• Adhere to schedules and campus policies; participate in trainings.
