Job summary

Bowie State University is seeking a Driver/Motor Coach Operator (Contingent II) to transport students, faculty, staff, and visitors while ensuring safety and compliance with FMCSA and university policies. The role requires maintaining vehicle readiness and providing reliable service across campus operations.

The position is a fixed-term non-regular role with shift coverage including weekends and nights. A Maryland CDL with passenger endorsement is mandatory; high school diploma or GED required;

Qualifications

• Valid Maryland CDL with passenger endorsement and no air brake restrictions.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience operating commercial passenger vehicles or providing professional transportation services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate motor coaches, shuttles, vans per routes and safety procedures.
• Provide transportation for students, faculty, staff, administrators, athletic teams, campus visitors, and university-sponsored activities.
• Safely load/unload passengers and luggage.
• Comply with FMCSA, DOT, MD and university transportation regulations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report issues.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and prepare vehicles for daily operation.
• Document mileage logs, fuel reports and incident reports.
