Job summary

Purdue University is seeking a Senior Custodian to support custodial and specialized cleaning across campus under limited supervision. Responsibilities include responding to customer needs, assisting with campus crises, and helping with snow and ice removal, while potentially working in restricted access areas.

The role requires knowledge of cleaning practices, ability to supervise small teams, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• 18 months custodial experience with 3 years total work experience required.
• Must have completed Building Services Custodial Development Program or enroll within 90 days.
• Ability to supervise and train small groups (3–10).
• Strong English reading/writing and basic math skills; able to use a computer.
• Knowledge of building maintenance policies and security procedures.

Responsibilities

• Work independently under limited supervision providing custodial support campus-wide.
• Respond to customer needs using judgment and established procedures.
• Assist with campus crisis response to enhance safety and reduce damage.
• Respond to emergency calls and help with snow/ice removal.
• Possibly work in restricted access areas requiring specialized procedures.
