Job summary

Purdue University is seeking a Senior Custodian to provide custodial and specialized cleaning support across campus, including vacancies and crew coverage. You will work with limited supervision and respond to campus needs using established practices.

Position requires 18 months custodial experience and completion of the Building Services Custodial Development Program (or enrollment within 90 days). Mon-Fri, 7:00am–3:30pm, $17.50/hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• 18 months of custodial experience with 3 years of total work experience.
• Must have completed Building Services Custodial Development Program, or be enrolled within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to supervise and train small (3–10) groups.
• Ability to read, write and speak English; communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers and customers.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematics and communicate via a computer.
• Good work organization ability.
• Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding building maintenance and security.
• Knowledge of floor care equipment (powered and non-powered).
• Ability to lift and carry 25–50 lbs. frequently, up to 60 lbs. occasionally.
• Outdoor work up to 10% in extreme temperatures; valid US or Canadian driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide custodial and specialized cleaning support to cover vacancies and supplement crews.
• Respond to customer needs using judgment and established practices.
• Respond to campus crises to enhance safety and reduce damage.
• Respond to emergency calls and assist with snow and ice removal.
• May work in restricted access areas requiring specialized procedures or training.
