Poway Unified School District in California seeks a Security Guard to supervise campus activities and ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors under the direction of an Assistant Principal.
Typical duties include patrolling assigned areas, enforcing district rules, directing visitors, monitoring traffic, and preparing incident reports. Evening and after-hours shifts are required; candidates must have a high school diploma and SB1626 training.
Applications will be screened and those whose backgrounds best match the requirements of the position will be invited to participate in a competitive examination process which may include any combination of the following: multiple-choice exam and a technical/oral examination. Examination procedures are subject to change as deemed necessary by the Director- Personnel Commission.
PUSD Classification Salary Range: $20.44 - $26.17 per hour
Anticipated Hiring Salary Rage: $20.44 per hour (Step 1) - $24.91 per hour (Step 4)
Limited Term (Substitute) Salary Range: $20.44 (Step 1)
Candidates who pass all of the examination processes are ranked on an eligibility list according to their score(s). Selection for the position will be made from among the top three (3) ranks of candidates. The eligibility list will be used for hiring purposes in other vacancies in the same, or equivalent, job classification and will be active for six (6) months (Merit Rule 50.100.1).

Employees assigned to work a regular schedule, 50% or more of the work hours between 5pm and 8am shall receive shift differential pay of 5% of their regular salary.
Positions greater than 20 hours per week are benefits eligible.

Graduation from high school and demonstrated ability to work effectively with high school students.
School Security Guard Training (SB1626) with Poway Unified School District must be completed within the first six months of employment or a certificate of completion can be submitted at the time of application.
