Job summary

Southern University at New Orleans is seeking a part-time campus guard to support safety and security on campus. The role involves walking or driving escorts, locking/unlocking buildings, and providing information to students, faculty, and visitors.

Key duties include responding to emergencies, patrolling grounds, monitoring CCTV and access systems, and coordinating with Police, Fire, and EMS as needed. The position offers $16.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• No experience or training is required.
• An applicant convicted of a felony or under indictment will be disqualified until relief granted.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Applicants may be required to possess a current Louisiana driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide escort services and walk/drive patrols; lock/unlock buildings per schedules; assist campus community.
• Create and maintain a safe learning and working environment.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests; coordinate Police, Fire, EMS as needed.
• Monitor campus activities and facilities via proactive patrol.
• Operate infrastructure systems: CCTV, fire panels, alarms, access cards, parking enforcement.
• Identify after-hours facility issues; coordinate emergency maintenance.
• Prepare incident reports accurately for security activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
