Job summary

Southern University at New Orleans seeks a part-time Guard to support campus safety. Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with compensation at $16.00 per hour for 12 months.

The role focuses on patrols, building access, escorts, emergency response coordination, and monitoring CCTV and alarm systems to protect students, staff, and visitors. No prior experience required; applicants must be 18+ and may need a Louisiana driver's license.

Qualifications

• No experience or training required.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• Possession of a Louisiana driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide escort services and lock/unlock campus buildings per schedules; assist the SUNO campus community.
• Create and maintain a safe learning and working environment for SUNO.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests; coordinate Police, Fire, EMS as needed.
• Monitor campus activities through proactive patrol and observation.
• Monitor infrastructure systems: CCTV, fire alarms, access cards, parking systems.
• Identify after-hours facility issues and assist in emergency maintenance.
• Prepare incident reports for security and safety activities.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisors.
