Southern University at New Orleans is seeking a part-time guard to assist campus police with safety on the SUNO campus in New Orleans, LA. The role involves patrolling grounds and buildings, providing escorts, and responding to requests for information and assistance.

Work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; compensation is $16.00 per hour; no prior experience required, with certain legal and driving license requirements.

Qualifications

• No experience or training is required.
• NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Applicants may be required to possess a current Louisiana driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide required services to the SUNO campus community, including escorts, locking/unlocking of campus buildings, and providing information and assistance as needed.
• Create and maintain a safe learning and working environment for SUNO campus community.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance; coordinate Police, Fire, and EMS responses as needed.
• Monitor campus activities and facilities through proactive patrol and observation.
• Regularly monitor and use critical infrastructure systems (CCTV, fire alarm panels, automation systems, alarms, access card systems, parking enforcement).
• Identify after-hours facilities issues and assist in coordinating emergency maintenance responses.
• Prepare required incident reports for safety-related activities.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisors.
