Job summary

Liberty University is seeking a Security Services Officer to function independently on assigned shifts, primarily in a designated building. The role requires responding to incidents, conducting patrols, and supporting investigations with supervision as needed.

Armed security training will be required upon hire, and the candidate will maintain calm, professional conduct while protecting the campus community.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Successful completion of hiring process (background check, etc.).
• Virginia Armed Security Officer certification within 1 year.
• Free of felonies or crimes of moral turpitude.
• Pass a drug screen at hire and random tests during employment.
• Strong written, verbal and problem solving skills.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license and clean DMV record.

Responsibilities

• Respond to dispatched calls for service.
• Patrol Assigned Building.
• Assist with interviews of suspects, witnesses and victims in support of investigations.
• Complete detailed incident reports for incidents in patrol area.
• Provide public services such as assisting motorists.
• Assist with special events, crowd control, VIP security and money escorts.
• Respond to maintenance calls and determine needed personnel.
• Lock and unlock buildings, classrooms and other areas.
• Attend and complete basic armed security training.
• Report unsafe conditions on campus streets and facilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
