Job summary

The University of Lynchburg, a private university in Central Virginia, is seeking a full-time Campus Security Officer to protect students, faculty, staff, and visitors across campus buildings and properties. You will enforce university, state, and local laws and provide a safe campus environment.

Reports to the Campus Security Supervisor and Director. Responsibilities include patrols, incident reporting, emergency response, and coordination with Facilities Management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Virginia CSO certification within 180 days of employment.
• Valid Virginia driver's license.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Respond to all calls for service in a timely and professional manner.
• Conduct investigations as required and document findings per policies.
• Provide security and protective services through routine patrols of campus facilities.
• Respond to emergencies, assess conditions and maintain safety.
• Complete incident reports and related documentation promptly.
• Maintain radio communications with dispatcher and staff.
• Provide crowd management and traffic control during events.
• Verify entry access and authorize individuals as needed.
• Identify hazards and submit work orders for corrective action.
• Patrol parking areas and enforce parking regulations.
• Monitor fire lanes and enforce policy as needed.
• Provide safety escorts to campus community.
• Maintain knowledge of campus facilities and operations to respond to calls.
• Assist with training of new officers as directed.
• Secure buildings during shifts through inspections of doors and systems.
