The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL is seeking Campus Security Officers to protect students, faculty, staff and visitors across the campus and satellite facilities. Officers patrol on foot and by vehicle, monitor CCTV and alarm systems, and respond to incidents.
Ideal candidates will maintain confidentiality, exhibit professional conduct, enforce campus policies, document incidents, and collaborate with security leadership to ensure a safe, welcoming campus environment.
Campus Security Officers provide protection and service to the Institutions students, faculty, staff and visitors located on the LECOM Campus and Satellite facilities. Officers employ a variety of methods and techniques to carry out this mission including, but not limited to, foot and vehicular patrols, utilization of surveillance CCTV systems, alarm systems, and lock and key systems. Officers interact with all emergencies on campus, maintain constant vigilance for criminal activity and safety threats while making appropriate reports as necessary, enforce local, state and Institutional regulations as designated, as well as, perform administrative and support tasks as assigned.
Education and experience equivalent to:
a minimum of a high school diploma and/or equivalent required. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License. Must be able to obtain an active “D” License in accordance with FL Statute XXXII, Chapter 493. Successful candidate must possess efficient and effective verbal and written communication skills, strong computer skills, multi-task and problem solve to properly support and promote the mission of LECOM.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye. Ability to work various / rotating shifts, to include: weekends, holidays, and inclement weather.
Employee is responsible for performing duties in an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion or harassment, including sexual harassment. Work is performed indoors in an office setting and outside of the office at local community outreach sites. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
Assists in the creation of a culture of safety and environmental protection by performing work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures. Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor.
Ensure compliance with the LECOM Computer and Network Usage Policy – General Guidelines for Faculty and Staff.
