Spokane Colleges is seeking a Campus Security Officer (Non-permanent, classified) to perform general security duties across campus locations in Spokane. The role includes patrols, incident investigations, and enforcing campus rules to protect life and property.

As a non-permanent, 18-month position, duties include responding to emergencies, issuing citations, coordinating with local law enforcement, and maintaining detailed reports.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with IT, social media, web use and investigations.
• Ability to handle emergency situations and conflict without escalation.
• Ability to investigate incidents and write reports.
• Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of maintaining required reports and filing systems.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to use a computer and office software.
• Ability to work varied/rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide security presence on campus locations for day and night shifts.
• Investigate accidents and crimes, issue citations, gather evidence, and appear in court as required.
• Direct and regulate campus traffic and monitor parking areas.
• Maintain surveillance of areas suspected for criminal activity.
• Operate department communication equipment and respond to calls.
• Investigate and file reports as required.
• Conduct patrols and de-escalate situations; use security equipment as needed.
