Job summary

Community Colleges of Spokane's Spokane Community College campus is seeking a Campus Security Officer to protect life and property, enforce laws, maintain order, and investigate incidents. The role involves patrolling campus grounds on foot or by vehicle, directing traffic, responding to emergencies, and completing detailed written reports.

Qualifications

• Proficiency, knowledge or experience with Information Technology (IT), social media, web use and investigations.
• Ability to handle emergency situations and conflict without escalation.
• Ability to investigate incidents and write reports.
• Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of maintaining required reports and filing systems.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to use a computer and contemporary office software.
• Ability to work varied/rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide a security presence on campus and patrol Spokane Colleges properties on foot or in a patrol vehicle.
• Investigate accidents and crimes, issue citations, gather evidence, locate witnesses, and assist law enforcement when needed.
• Direct and regulate traffic and patrol campus parking areas.
• Maintain surveillance of areas suspected of criminal activity.
• Operate department communication equipment and monitor alarm systems.
• Complete and file reports as required.
• Conduct patrols and de-escalate or control various situations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
