Job summary

City Colleges of Chicago is hiring an Assistant Director of Security to help create a safe campus environment and enforce campus policies. The role supports the Director, may supervise satellite security operations, and handles incident reporting and enforcement across the district.

Requirements include a B.A. degree in a related field with 3–4 years of law enforcement experience and 2 years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• B.A. degree in related field preferred plus 3–4 years law enforcement experience with 2 years supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of relevant state statutes and local ordinances.
• Ability to handle situations with tact, persuasiveness, and diplomacy.
• Effective written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in investigating complaints and solving crimes, and inform campus on rules and safety procedures.
• Serve as second in command when Director is absent.
• Possible supervision of security operations at satellite locations.
• Review incident reports and forward required reports to Director of Security.
• Ensure security and safety of all campus users and enforce policies.
• Apply only necessary force in compliance with laws when applicable.
• Participate in recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of security staff.
• Assist staffing planning to meet safety needs.
• Direct and supervise staff; provide feedback and opportunities for improvement.
• Plan staff meetings and training to improve security operations.
• Appear in court or government offices as needed.
• Represent the college at district-wide meetings.
• Verify time and attendance records for security staff.
• Adhere to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
