Job summary

City Colleges of Chicago is seeking Security Officers to patrol campuses and the District Office, ensuring a safe environment for students, faculty, staff and the public. These unarmed positions support the OSS team under supervision of the Director.

Responsibilities include monitoring access, patrolling, responding to emergencies, issuing IDs, and providing public assistance. Candidates must meet education requirements and pass a background check; valid IL driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred; high school diploma required.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license.
• Must pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide a uniformed presence at an assigned college or the District Office, monitoring access and entry to buildings for the safety and security of students, employees and the general public.
• Patrol campus on foot and in a vehicle to deter crime and monitor for unusual or suspicious activities.
• Notifies supervisor and Security Officers on duty of disturbances and irregularities.
• Contacts emergency responders such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel.
• Issues student identification cards and uses ID badging system to create IDs.
• Provides security escorts as needed to and from buildings and parking areas.
• Responds to service calls and alarms and takes appropriate actions.
• Updates operation and incident logs to record activities during shifts.
• Assists Security Officers in carrying out duties as directed.
