Job summary

Barnard College seeks a Community Safety Supervisor to oversee the College’s safety program on an assigned shift, supervise staff, and support leadership on related duties. The role addresses safety and departmental operations, often when other supervisors aren’t available, ensuring secure campus operations.

The position requires five years in security with supervisory experience, NYS Security Guard license or to obtain within six months, a driver’s license, and a Fire Life Safety Director

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in security operations with 3+ years in a supervisory role.
• Associate degree or equivalent; bachelor preferred.
• New York State Security Guard license or obtain within 6 months.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Fire Life Safety Director certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shift staff and duties on assigned shift.
• Monitor safety rules and incident response; document incidents.
• Inspect posts and facilities and evaluate performance.
• Coordinate with other departments and partners during emergencies.
• Maintain familiarity with campus events to inform decisions.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Docs; learn Lenel and records systems.
