Gersh Autism in Brooklyn, NY seeks a dependable School Safety Officer to maintain a safe, structured educational environment for students with autism and developmental disabilities. You will monitor entrances, assist with dismissal, and support operations while upholding professional standards.

The role requires calm judgment in emergencies, strong observational skills, and collaboration with staff and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of security, school safety, or related experience.
• NYS Security Guard License - 8 Hour and 16 Hour Course Certificate required.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
• Experience in schools or youth-focused environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol school premises to ensure safety of students, staff, and visitors.
• Observe and report suspicious activity and security concerns.
• Control building access and sign in/out visitors and staff.
• Respond to alarms, incidents, or emergencies calmly and professionally.
• Write detailed incident reports.
• Support dismissal procedures and coordinate with transportation.
• Escort individuals during sensitive HR situations when needed.
