Job summary

Point Loma Nazarene University is hiring a Public Safety Officer to protect campus facilities and people. The role includes patrolling, monitoring surveillance, responding to emergencies, and assisting with visitor services while enforcing campus policies.

Qualifications

• Current California Security Guard registration or ability to obtain license within 30 days of hire.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Valid California Driver’s License with safe driving record.
• High School diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Experience as a security officer or law-enforcement incident handling and two-way radio communication.

Responsibilities

• Secure premises by patrolling property on foot or by vehicle; monitor surveillance equipment; inspect buildings and access points; perform lock/unlock procedures.
• Provide escort services and assist visitors, staff and faculty; respond to emergencies and report incidents.
• Direct traffic and enforce the PLNU Vehicle Code; prepare daily activity and incident reports.
• Maintain equipment; perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot malfunctions; participate in emergency responses.
