Job summary

Paradise Valley Unified School District is seeking a Security and Safety Specialist to support the instructional process and ensure safety for students, staff, and the community on and around school grounds. The role reports to Site Administration and requires handling safety procedures and campus security tasks.

The position emphasizes vigilance, quick response to incidents, collaboration with district staff, and participation in ongoing safety trainings to maintain a secure learning

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Online Driver Training Certification is preferred.
• Driver's License and Evidence of Insurability required.
• Criminal Background Clearance required.
• Bleeding Control Training, AED Training, and First Aid/CPR are desirable.
• Behavioral Safety Training and related continuing education are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Communicates safety policies to students, staff and visitors to maintain a safe campus climate.
• Monitors behavior before, during, and after school and at events; may supervise lunchrooms and other areas.
• Patrols facilities to provide visibility and promote safety and security.
• Assists with emergency response implementation (lockdowns, evacuations, etc.).
• Prepares written materials documenting activities and communicating information.
• Provides traffic control and maintains orderly parking flow.
• Refers incidents to appropriate personnel for follow-up per guidelines.
• Responds to incidents (accidents, injuries, alarms) to resolve safety concerns.
• Participates in trainings and meetings to improve job performance.
• Supports campus culture and helps students reflect on actions and make amends.
