Job summary

Johnson & Wales University is seeking a Campus Safety Officer to patrol the Providence Campus, enforce safety rules, and support security operations. You will respond to incidents, conduct investigations, and coordinate with dispatch for timely reporting.

The role requires night/weekend availability, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification. Candidates must be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions at the campus location.

Essential Job Functions

• Patrols university properties to keep the campus safe and secure
• Utilizes the access control software system to assist in maintaining building security
• Conducts follow-up investigations of incidents gathering additional information for preparing incident reports
• Enforces parking rules and guidelines on campus
• Performs dispatcher duties when assigned
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid U.S. driver's license
• Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain CPR/AED and First Aid certification
• Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB), Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol (OCAT) (or equivalent), and Monadnock Expandable Baton certifications
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Willingness to be subject to a comprehensive background investigation

Preferred Qualifications

• Law enforcement, military and/or security experience
• Emergency management experience and/or understanding of National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (ICS) operations
• Experience with and/or understanding of Title IX, Clery Act, and privacy regulations
• Experience in conducting criminal or personnel policy investigations and investigative report writing
• Experience with Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management Systems (RMS) systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
