Job summary

Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, GA is seeking a Part-Time Campus Security Officer to protect students, faculty, staff, visitors and property. This 24/7 operation involves shift work and rotating schedules, reporting to the Chief of Police or designee.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid Georgia driver's license, and prior security experience is desirable. Candidates should have strong communication, quick decision-making, and the ability to work with the campus

Qualifications

• High School Education or GED required.
• Valid Georgia driver's license and meet driving record criteria established by the Department.
• Prior security experience in an educational, medical, or corporate environment is desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to think and act quickly.

Responsibilities

• Projects a positive image of the university and Campus Police with a professional demeanor.
• Patrols campus grounds and buildings, checks doors/windows/gates, and watches for hazards.
• Monitors fire alarms and checks fire extinguishers; responds to incidents after hours.
• Maintains a uniformed presence and requests police assistance when needed.
• Gives directions, provides information, and renders motorist services as requested.
• Completes written reports on suspicious activity or safety hazards.
• Provides walking escorts between buildings and parking areas; supports events.
