Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Manager of Campus Safety and Security to lead the strategic development and implementation of a comprehensive safety program for the school community. The role partners with school leadership, local law enforcement, and emergency services to maintain best practices in safety and crisis response across all campus facilities and events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, emergency management, public administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in law enforcement, campus safety, or security leadership, preferably in an educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of emergency preparedness, threat assessment, and crisis management.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a school community.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the safety and security policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
• Manage the Safety team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Serve as liaison with local police, fire, and emergency management agencies.
• Monitor access control, surveillance systems, and visitor management protocols.
• Ensure proper reception coverage of doors 1 and 7.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency drills.
• Coordinate crisis response and recovery efforts with school leadership.
• Provide training to faculty, staff, and students on emergency procedures and situational awareness.
• Foster a culture of safety and trust through visibility and proactive communication.
• Prepare reports on progress and yearly activity for administration.
