Job summary

Bismarck State College seeks a dedicated Campus Police Chief to oversee its Campus Police Department, ensuring safety and security across campus operations. The role demands leadership, confidentiality, and a commitment to a secure educational environment.

As Incident Commander during emergencies, you will supervise personnel, manage the budget, and coordinate with agencies to maintain safety and compliance with relevant laws and policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field and five years of related experience.
• Must possess a valid North Dakota Peace Officer license.
• Supervisory and administrative management experience.
• Must reside within a location that enables response to emergencies within 20 minutes of notification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee campus security, fire safety, and emergency management.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement to address campus-related incidents and develop MOUs.
• Chair the Crisis Management Team and implement emergency plans; provide training for emergencies.
• Select, train, and evaluate department personnel; coordinate staff training and development.
• Plan, direct, and review department work; ensure logs and documentation are complete.
