Job summary

The Hawaii State Department of Education is seeking School Security Attendants to patrol campuses in Hawaii. Positions range by level, with duties including supervision during class, lunch, and events, enforcement of school rules, and reporting safety concerns to administrators.

Applicants should be able to read and write English, follow instructions, and perform basic arithmetic. Experience in security or related fields is preferred but substitutions are allowed.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and understand oral and written English; follow instructions and perform basic arithmetic.
• General experience in roles involving following procedures and interacting with the public.
• Experience in security, law enforcement, or related fields may be substituted as described in the substitutions section.

Responsibilities

• Patrols campus grounds during class, lunch, before and after school to maintain safety and order.
• Observes and reports unusual student behavior on campus.
• Directs unauthorized persons off school premises and reports concerns to administrators.
• Assists administration and staff with supervision at assemblies, pep rallies, dances, and other events.
• Informs administrators of critical situations potentially requiring police or fire assistance.
• May activate alarm systems as necessary.
