Job summary

Hawaiʻi State Department of Education seeks School Security Attendants at Kapolei to ensure campus safety and orderly flow around the school grounds. Positions span multiple levels, with a base focus on observation, reporting, and intervention as needed.

Applicants should be able to read and write English, follow instructions, and perform basic arithmetic. Training and certification are required for guards under Hawaii law, with opportunities across campuses in the district.

Qualifications

• Applicants must possess the ability to read, write and understand oral and written English, follow oral and written instructions, and perform simple arithmetic.
• General Experience: experience such as administrative, technical, clerical, or other work that involves following written procedures and interacting with people.
• Specialized Experience: experience protecting property and people in settings like government, military, school systems, or similar; knowledge of basic protective systems.

Responsibilities

• Patrols school grounds to supervise students and maintain order.
• Observe and report unusual student behavior on campus.
• Discourage misconduct and guide students toward assistance or counseling.
• Direct pedestrian and vehicle flow to ensure safety around school grounds.
• Enforce school rules and disallow smoking, gambling, or vandalism.
• Assist in supervising events and activities to ensure safety and order.
