Job summary

Unparalleled Preparatory Academy (UPA) is seeking a Security Officer to ensure campus safety and support daily operations at the Northeast Austin location. This role blends visible campus presence with light facilities support and event setup, aligned to school hours and occasional events.

The ideal candidate will have security experience, strong communication, and the physical ability to lift and move items as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in security, law enforcement, military, or school safety is preferred.
• Experience working in a school or youth-centered environment is a plus.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and make quick decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• physically capable of lifting, moving, and supporting operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and secure all campus entry and exit points.
• Conduct routine patrols of the building and surrounding areas.
• Support arrival, dismissal, and transition procedures to ensure student safety.
• De-escalate conflicts and respond to incidents in a calm, professional manner.
• Collaborate with school leadership on safety protocols and emergency response.
• Maintain accurate incident reports and documentation.
• Build positive, professional relationships with students while maintaining boundaries.
• Assist staff in maintaining a safe and structured learning environment.
• Move furniture, equipment, and large items for classrooms, events, and daily operations.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks and report larger issues.
• Support event setup and breakdown; assist in keeping spaces clean and organized.
