Job Description:

Responsible for performing activities to ensure the safety and security of all personnel, students, guests, and facilities on campus and to enforce University rules and regulations and assist Campus Police in the enforcement of applicable laws to include local, state, and federal statutes. Employees in this classification are required to maintain flexible work schedules in order to accommodate weekends, evenings, and holiday shifts. Overtime work may also occur. Employees may experience hazardous or dangerous situations in the course of their work.

Responsibilities:

• Enforce university policies and applicable laws, including local, state, and federal statutes.
• Prevent crimes and protect life and University property.
• Control traffic and parking requirements, including issuing parking citations and/or warnings.
• To ensure the security of the campus community, perform routine patrols on foot, cart, bicycle, or in a vehicle.
• Respond to emergency alarms and calls; make decisions based on analysis of situations and facts; and take appropriate action on calls and emergencies.
• Provide assistance to disabled students, deliver emergency messages, and respond to calls for medical assistance for individuals who have become ill or injured.
• Provide security to individuals at sporting and special events.
• As needed, escort students or other members of the campus community to their residence halls, cars, and/or classes.
• Prepare incidents, accidents, and other such reports accurately for detailed documentation.
• Assist motorists with flat tires, stalled vehicles, keys locked in cars, etc.
• Unlock doors for scheduled classes, meetings, and rentals, and secure and re-lock areas.
• Perform other tasks of a similar nature or level as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to receive and understand oral and written instructions
• Valid driver's license
• Able to pass an extensive background check
• No felony convictions
