Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Alabama driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing school safety
• Three years of related security experience
• Fingerprint clearance with the Alabama State Department of Education prior to start date

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of school grounds including hallways, classrooms, parking lots, and outdoor areas
• Monitor security cameras and alarms to detect and respond to suspicious activities or unauthorized individuals
• Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized entry and ensure a safe environment for all
• Greet visitors, verify identity, and issue visitor badges as necessary
• Monitor access points and enforce visitor check-in procedures to control entry into the school
• Escort visitors to designated areas and assist with directions or inquiries
• Respond promptly to emergencies including medical emergencies, fights, or security threats
• Follow crisis management protocols and coordinate with law enforcement or emergency services as needed
• Provide assistance during evacuation drills and actual evacuations
• Enforce school rules related to safety and security
• Address disruptive behavior in accordance with policies
• Collaborate with administration and staff to maintain a positive learning environment
• Document security incidents and actions in detailed reports
• Communicate security concerns to appropriate personnel
• Maintain records of security-related activities and provide testimony as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by administrators
