Bethel University has an opening for a full-time Campus Safety Officer - 2nd Shift

Primary Shift: Second shift, with flexibility to work some different shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Note: No remote work is available for this position.

Job Overview:

Campus Safety Officers are responsible for providing safety and security services to the campus community and visitors. Key duties include:

1. Patrolling Bethel University property via foot, bicycle, or authorized vehicle to maintain visibility.
2. Conducting regular safety checks and inspections of buildings, including doors, windows, and gates.
3. Monitoring traffic flow and issuing citations when appropriate.
4. Reporting damages, equipment malfunctions, suspicious activities, and safety concerns using proper procedures.
5. Investigating and reporting criminal activity, complaints, and traffic accidents.
6. Maintaining a detailed daily shift log.
7. Responding to routine requests such as lockouts, jump starts, and safe-walk services; assisting individuals in complying with university regulations; and managing violators.
8. Activating the Emergency Notification System (ENS) during emergencies.
9. Responding to medical emergencies, providing basic first aid, and calling EMS as needed.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or GED; additional education is a plus.
2. Relevant safety and security experience.
3. Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to pass drug, criminal, credit checks, and pre-employment physical.
4. Strong interpersonal skills; fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
5. Good vision (20 inches or less and 20 feet or more), peripheral vision, and depth perception.
6. Ability to stand and walk for long periods, climb stairs and ladders, and perform occasional running or jogging. Capable of lifting at least 40 pounds and up to 200 pounds with assistance.

Working Conditions:

Work environment includes indoor and outdoor settings in various weather conditions, including cold, heat, and humidity.
