Job description

USNH Employees should apply within Workday through the Jobs Hub app Under the general supervision of the Chief of Police or designee perform routine inspections of campus property to assure compliance with state, municipal, federal and USNH campus safety/security regulations. A Campus Safety Officer, a member of the Campus Safety Division, performs routine inspections of campus property to assure compliance with state, municipal, federal and USNH safety/security regulations. Campus Safety Officers respond to various calls for service, such as residential/academic lockouts, courtesy rides to and from campus locations, motor vehicle jumpstarts, and others as directed by division or patrol supervisor. Campus Safety Officers are Non-Sworn members of the UNH Police Department. Campus Safety Officers are not law enforcement, although they work closely with law enforcement to ensure that the campus and its inhabitants remain safe. Campus Safety Officers work closely with UNH Police Officers and Dispatchers.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • 50% Perform assigned campus safety/security patrol at appointed times, as scheduled, to assure compliance with federal, state, municipal and USNH campus safety/security regulations. Complete daily log showing times of building patrols, key services, walking escorts, criminal & non-criminal incidents reported or discovered and security or safety issues that need to be addressed. Safeguard campus buildings at designated times, including checking the doors, windows, and other egress points. Check halls, stairs, and other areas of occupant passage for obstacles which could prevent effective egress in case of an emergency.
  • 20% Complete incident reports for crimes committed on campus and non-crime incidents that relate to campus safety such as: fires, medical emergencies, violations of university policies relating to campus safety or alarm activations. Notify the Campus Safety Supervisor or designee of incidents that require a timely warning, may result in heightened community interest, or may expose the University to liability.
  • 20% Report violations, individual violators, vandalism, illegal entry, and trespassers to University Police Dispatch and remain in the area to assist if necessary. Report fires and malfunctions of fire detecting/life saving devises to the University Police Dispatch and remain on scene in case of fire to assist the fire department. Report all items requiring repair action and remain in areas to assist, if necessary.
  • 10% Render assistance to the public. Enforce college/university rules and regulations.
Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Able to multi-task and organize workload for effective implementation. Effective analytical and problem-resolution skills. Effective independent judgement and decision-making ability. Serve as a positive team member. Customer service and results driven.

Compensation Pay Range: $15.00 per hour
