Job summary

The University of New Hampshire in Durham is seeking a Campus Safety Officer to join the Campus Safety Division. Under supervision, you will perform routine inspections of campus property to ensure compliance with state, municipal, federal and USNH safety regulations.

UNH is located in Durham on a 188-acre campus, just north of Boston and near lakes and mountains. Campus Safety Officers are non-sworn and work closely with UNH Police and Dispatchers, responding to calls for service such as

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Able to multi-task and organize workload for effective implementation.

Responsibilities

• 50% Perform assigned campus safety/security patrol at appointed times, as scheduled, to assure compliance with federal, state, municipal and USNH campus safety/security regulations. Complete daily log showing times of building patrols, key services, walking escorts, criminal & non-criminal incidents reported or discovered and security or safety issues that need to be addressed.
• 20% Complete incident reports for crimes committed on campus and non-crime incidents that relate to campus safety such as: fires, medical emergencies, violations of university policies relating to campus safety or alarm activations. Notify the Campus Safety Supervisor or designee of incidents that require a timely warning, may result in heightened community interest, or may expose the University to liability.
• 20% Report violations, individual violators, vandalism, illegal entry, and trespassers to University Police Dispatch and remain in the area to assist if necessary. Report fires and malfunctions of fire detecting/life saving devises to the University Police Dispatch and remain on scene in case of fire to assist the fire department. Report all items requiring repair action and remain in areas to assist, if necessary.
• 10% Render assistance to the public. Enforce college/university rules and regulations.
